Nick Bilbrough - Course Coordinator and Trainer

Nick has taught in three continents in a wide range of interesting and challenging contexts and now teaches part-time at University College St Mark and St John (Marjon), Plymouth. He has worked on training courses for English teachers and teachers of other languages in many parts of the world. He holds an MA in Educational Drama and has done extensive research into the role of drama and storytelling techniques in second language learning. He is the author of 2 resource books in the Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers series: Dialogue Activities (2007) and Memory Activities for Language Learning (2011), shortlisted for the 2011 Ben Warren prize.

 

 

David Heathfield – Trainer

David runs training workshops for language teachers in the UK and worldwide. He has a particular interest in student creativity in language learning and making learning personal. As a storyteller, David focuses on bridging cultures and takes a multi-sensory approach. He writes articles for various language teaching publications and is the author of the practical resource book for language teachers Spontaneous Speaking: Drama Activities for Confidence and Fluency (DELTA Publishing 2005).

Luke Meddings - Trainer

Luke has been teaching, writing and training within English Language Teaching for over 20 years. He was a co-founder with Scott Thornbury of the Dogme in ELT movement in 2000, and has written and trained extensively in the field of unplugged and materials-light approaches since then. He was a columnist for the Guardian online, and his first book, Teaching Unplugged, co-written with Scott Thornbury, was published by Delta in 2009. In 2010 it was awarded a British Council ELTon award for innovation.

Sessions on the courses are also led by other specialists in the fields of drama, storytelling, pronunciation, and puppets.
